Coordinating with Community Organizations
Helpline staffers communicate with other agencies in order to find the best and fairest way to help the people who call upon us for assistance. For example: volunteers refer callers to appropriate food banks in their area, and work with City Light to prevent utilities from being turned off and working landlords to keep clients in their homes.
We share rental assistance cost with local parishes through St. Vincent de Paul and Salvation Army, as well as other agencies.
We have voucher arrangements with Bartell’s on lower Queen Anne and the upper Safeway for pharmaceuticals. Vouchers for food, from Ken’s Market, Queen Anne Safeway, and both Metropolitan markets.
We have supported and guided the establishment of other area Helplines.
